Impossibly perfect.

Since getting more involved in the blogging world I have spent a considerable amount of time looking at other people's. My favorites are the blogs of other stay at home mom's. I love reading about and looking at pictures of their beautiful lives... These women inspire me so much. They truly seem to be able to do it all! They keep immaculate houses, find time to do interesting crafts with their children, they cook all-organic meals every night, sew adorable clothes, look amazing... and somehow, still find the time to document all of it in a daily blog! They are impossibly perfect.
I mean... Seriously?!

When I compare my life to theirs... It truly makes me feel like throwing in the towel. I will never be "that girl". But then I remember... just how awesome I really am! Just because I am not at their level of housewifiness.. doesn't mean I will not strive! I like a challenge. And I'm not a TOTAL lost cause.

There's no greater sense of accomplishment for me than a day well-spent. ...You know, those days when you be takin' care of bidness, so to speak.
On THOSE days I feel my best.

So with that said... I have decided to STOP beating myself up for the days when I'm not quite in peak performance.
I've got to realize that life's too short and precious to waste on trying to be Patty Perfect.
...quite simply, It may never happen.
And that's fine.... 'cause what I got going on ain't bad!
...............................................................................................................................................................
Things I've decided to be OK with:

Piles of dirty laundry.
(Show me a person who enjoys doing this chore...
and I will show you a person in need of therapy.)

Naps in the middle of the day.
(No, not every day... but when the occasional mood hits,
I will not deny it! I deserve it!)

Shower-less days.
(I have a 2 year old. period.)

Not cooking a glorious hot meal every night.
(It just makes the nights when I do more special :)

..............................................................................................................................................................

Here are a few quotes from a book Andy got me last Mother's Day.

"Make sure you have a friend who is messier than you. When you feel guilty becuase of the state of your house, go and visit her. You'll be amazed at how clean your house will seem when you get home."

"If you have a friends with immaculate houses, tell yourself they they must have too much time on their hands and lead a really boring life. You are far too interesting to spend all that time washing the windows, polishing the furniture, vacuuming the curtains, and scrubbing the kitchen floor."

"Frankly there's always something better to do!"

And my personal favorite...

"There's always tomorrow!"

The truth of the matter is, however, that I am a better person for reading these blogs. Competition is just in my blood, and I don't like to be outdone. Constantly being reminded of my inferiority is good for my soul. And it makes me that much more grateful for the life I do lead.

I like reading other SAHM's blogs too!! "Its all about perception" (said with the Boston accent of a former *$ manager). Of course, its your perception that they are perfect, but surely, you are THE perfect mama for Jack. I love your OK-with List!

Your blog looks like fun. I'm going to have to do some research into this google ad thing!! I've been considering one too for a while, perhaps someday my thoughts will make it into some kind of print.
