weekend wrap-up

Here's what went down this weekend:

Friday night brought with it a spontaneous girls night out. We dined like royalty at
Eclipse Di Luna where we indulged in...

{spanish cheeses}
{spiced potatoes with romesco}
{assorted marinatedolives & spanish almonds}
{white bean hummus, feta, olives, & crispy flatbread}
{calamari & pico de gallo}
{carne asada with red pepper puree & crispy onions}
{roasted chicken empanadas, with manchego & tomato marmalade}
and, of course...Thanks for a fabulous (and adventurous) night, Ladies!


Saturday I attended a baby shower for one of my oldest friends. My sweet "Little" Christy. She is such a precious lady and I loved being a part of her special day. I was so happy to see that she liked my handmade gifts, and I can't wait to see these on her sweet little girl!


Best wishes and congrats again, Little C! Love you!


And last, but certainly not least, today the family all enjoyed a great lunch in celebration of Andy's Nanaw's (and Jack's Gigi's) 81st birthday!!!! Nanaw is the kindest, sweetest and most beloved of grandmothers, and we always love being with her.

She's crafty.

This weekend has gone by in a flash! Friday night, Andy and I were able to have a delightfully unexpected date night. We had a fabulous dinner at Six Feet Under, moaning over every scrumptious morsel. Homemade potato chips, fried green tomatoes, killer cole slaw, scallops, shrimp, fried zucchini, and cold beer... Um, you would have moaned too.

Saturday was my sweet friend Colleen's birthday, and I had a great time with her and all her gals. We had amazing food (again), wine, laughter, crafts... and um, some more wine. Colleen made all of us our own teacup candles... SO cute! She found all of the different cups at the thrift store, and we got to pick which one we wanted, the scent and the color... FUN!



Colleen and I have been friends for years, and she is such a fun, beautiful, talented, funny, supportive, caring, genuine person. We had such a fun night! I love looking through her house at all of her art and creations. Her latest venture has been making tiny moss terrariums like these...

I LOVE moss! And have decided to get back into the crafting swing of things by having a Moss-Madness craft night soon. Thanks for always being so inspiring, Co!

Valentine's Recap.

AHHHH....

There's nothing like the joy that comes with a napping toddler!


Now I can finally sit and tell you all about our wonderful weekend. And, oh! Was it wonderful! The Husby had a Valentine's secret he'd been keeping for weeks, and on Saturday he informed me that we would be going to see Cirque Du Soleil! I was utterly surprised, and I don't think I would have ever guessed. It's one of those things I never really thought I'd be into, but now I am a believer! It was amazing, and I would recommend it to anyone!

In addition to the wonderful entertainment, we also indulged in some amazing food!
Before the show we dined like royalty at the oh-so-chic,
Nuevo Laredo.

(OK...I'm being a little sarcastic about the chic part, it's actually very modest, crowded, low-ceilinged and hard to get into... but the food is bliss!) I had two life altering tacos; The Pollo Mole and The Carnitas. Andy got Barbacoa Pork and Mexican mashed potatoes. We sipped margaritas, and enjoyed some of the absolute best salsa I've ever tasted. Go there! (and take me with you when you do.)


After the show, we found ourselves wondering what to do next. We thought about going somewhere for desert, maybe drinks... But then opted for a midnight breakfast at R. Thomas instead.


I'm telling you, wine is fine... but breakfast is bestest! Scrambled eggs, nine-grain toast, and home fries,YUM! And I topped it all off by sipping on a huge cup of their Blue Moon yerba mate. This drink is absolutely the nectar of the gods; chamomile, lemongrass and peppermint teas, sweetened with maple, soy and rice milk and ginger. Um, I die.

And so, having been thoroughly entertained, satiated and with our tummies warm and full we journeyed back to our home sweet home and thence ended our lovely Valentine's night.
