I love movies! There's nothing like the feeling I get inside when I see a great film. I mean a really great film. The kind that leaves you completely fulfilled and you walk away thinking that you could go right back in and watch it all over again. There have been a few of these for me... Life Is Beautiful, Amelie, Pride and Prejudice, The English Patient, Cold Mountain, Lord of the Rings... just to name a few. Andy thinks I'm crazy because I'd rather watch a movie on TV than anything else. Even if it is one I've seen 167,592,699,625,193 times.... which is most often the case. I just love it when something is done right, ya know. So you can imagine my delight at seeing the preview for Jane Campion's newest film, Bright Star. Complete elation! Campion's The Piano is another that would be on the above list of movies I adore. Bright Star centers on the love affair between the poet John Keats and Fanny Brawne. Gosh, is there anything better than aching love, the 1800's, artful poets, strong-minded women and above all... British accents? No, my dears, there is not. If you want to read a truly articulate review of Bright Star I suggest you take a gander at what the lovely Emily Martin had to say about it over at Inside a Black Apple.
